Joshua Davis

Software engineer. Drone systems, computer vision, defense tech.

[ about ]

I'm a 19-year-old engineer. I've built drone navigation systems, geo-referencing validation tools, and computer vision pipelines. I care about defense technology — software that operates under real constraints and protects people.

Drone Pose Estimation—Ray-Casting Evaluation

Built the accuracy testing component for a drone pose estimation system. Implemented ray-casting against terrain geometry to validate estimated positions—shooting rays from the drone's calculated pose and finding intersections with the elevation map. Used this to measure and visualize positioning error across test flights.

GeoRef DataTagging

Internal tool for generating test data for geo-referencing systems. Built an interactive GUI with OpenCV for tagging drone imagery with known ground coordinates. Handled the coordinate transforms between image space, camera frames, and world coordinates. Designed to make dataset creation fast and accurate.

[ background ]

Deferred Cooper Union CS to spend a gap year in Israel working on computer vision and drone systems. Later withdrew entirely to take the Palantir Meritocracy Fellowship. Working close to real operational systems is what pulled me toward defense tech.
